High-Speed Centrifuge
High-speed centrifuges are ambient-temperature models with a maximum speed above 15,000 r/min — the daily workhorse of molecular biology, cell culture and clinical testing. They run mainly angle rotors: a short sedimentation path and fast separation suit plasmid and nucleic-acid extraction, cell and bacterial pelleting, and crude protein preparation, all steps that need high g-force. On the MRK high-speed series, one unit switches between 1.5 ml microtubes, 15/50 ml conical tubes and large bottles simply by changing the rotor, and the benchtop models take little bench space and are ready to use. Note that ambient models build up heat in the rotor and tube walls during long continuous runs; if your samples are temperature-sensitive, choose the refrigerated high-speed series instead.
